People, if you are bemoaning the icky orange weird bacteria -or-whatever scunge that starts to grow on your shower curtain liner: wash it! I've always done this, but I told someone, and they said they though you couldn't wash plastic. Au contraire! Just wad the darned thing up and stuff it in the washer with a few towels (I do my white bath stuff so I can glug in some bleach), set it on large, blork in some laundry detergent and let 'er rip. I just hung it back up to dry and I feel like a new woman.

---
Extra-boring tip for those with even more time/compulsion: I threw the white plastic curtain rings in the dish washer because they had faint rust stains on them.

*******
I have an iMac that I no longer use. It has OSX on it (not sure which version), and is fine, just too old for me. Anybody want it (free)? (Local, I'm guessing, because I don't have any money with which to ship it.)

I have a history of saying I'm going to lay low on my birthday, but that seems a little passive aggressive. Like, did you forget to say something to me? Well, hmmph!

So, in my new, grab-it-by-the-horns lifestyle, I'm inviting everyone to have an extra sweet day because I was born this very day in 1964. Dig it!

I'd also like to invite you to spread a little frosting on that sweet day by giving some love to my birthday sister, mirrormargaret. M. laughed and said that The Beetle and Mr. J had been begging for "Krabby Patties" for lunch after a jag of SpongeBob, and had been saddened to hear that they didn't really exist. Little did they know what lay in store. She told them we were having a surprise for dinner, and T brought down some burger rolls and raw spinach to complete the illusion. I made a little magic sauce (ketchup and mayo), and I swear, it blew their minds. In your face, Squidward!

What I *Like* To Hear Yelled Out A Car Window

This morning when I took out the trash, I took the time to weed the front "pie" (mini planted area between all of our driveways). As I crouched down with my butt to the road, a woman drove by and shouted out her window, "It's beautiful!" It just made me feel so good. (I'm assuming she was talking about the planting.)

It really takes so little to make my day. And this made me feel better about the fact that I tend to yell compliments out my car window to people, and sometimes I'm afraid that might freak them out.

(cross-posted to the_new_perfect)

I have a Nikon FG-20 that I bought in 1984, and used with great happiness through many photo classes and life in general. I keep thinking I'll bust it out and shoot film again, but I haven't used it for years (and years and years), and it's time to let it go. Does anybody know anyone who shoots film and would be interested in a retro manual camera? I'm willing to just give it to the right person, or do some sort of trade. I'd like to think that some arty sort is enjoying it.

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/htmls/slr8486.htm

edited to add: Found a home for it.

I've been pretty quiet here, lately, because I've been very tired and just tired of, mostly tired of living in my heavy, heavy (albeit tasty) shell. I've spent the past few years, then past few months coming to terms with my pursuit of a new plan, which is some sort of bariatric (weight loss) surgery. I'm keeping a separate blog about this, because it's mostly just for my reference, but if anyone wants to see what I've been thinking about, it's at the link below. There are a few entries that are just reprints from the web, because I was looking for info on insurance or whatever, but if you scroll through, there's a lot of figuring out going on.

Feel free to comment or ignore. I'm open to anything anyone has to say. It's been complicated, as a body-loving, lady-loving, chunky-girl loving cutie chubaroo to choose to engage in something like this, but I think I've found some ways to understand it. And I'm not much interested in being closet-y about anything I do. Plus basically, I'll be dying soon if I don't do something. So that's whatever it is.

I won't talk about it much here, because I don't think it's of much general interest. Just letting you all know in case you're interested.

http://thenewperfect.blogspot.com/
